TODL.com Makes an Impact
April 1st, 2001 Ever since TODL.com was launched as Generation II of the Trade Only Design Library Inc. (TODL) during NeoCon 2000, it has become a destination site for trade professionals. With Internet transactions in the U.S. for the design and construction industry estimated to grow to somewhere near $28 billion by 2002 (according to Forrester Research), TODL is positioned for substantial growth, according to the company. "TODL listens to the needs of the design community and we respond by offering services that make doing business easier and more profitable for our members," explains Christine Cunningham, vp/marketing. "We are in a highly creative industry where clients and designers need to feel textures/fabrics and work together in person. We realize a computer will never replace these functions. Our hope is that TODL can facilitate the process, making it more efficient," she adds. Design professions are invited into the TODL.com Web site free of charge; qualified designers receive a password and user name to gain access. The Web site was founded by Stacey Tiveron, who created the dot-com company after eight years of research and specification for a design firm in California and Florida. Tiveron managed the research and specification phases of projects spanning residential, commercial, contract, hospitality, and healthcare. She was inspired to create TODL.com in response to the frustration she often felt gathering product specifications for her own projects, believing that there had to be a better, more efficient way to specify. The company's core purpose is to increase the professional buyers' bottom line by providing an efficient and voluminous specification database. HL&A Contract Lighting Magazine April, 2001 |
